In the heart of Birmingham’s environmental stewardship efforts, our Watershed Management Division is dedicated to safeguarding and improving our city’s water resources and natural habitats. We encompass several key areas: Keep Birmingham Beautiful, Stormwater Management, Floodplain Management and Hazard Mitigation Services, and Engineering Team.
Our division spearheads initiatives to enhance environmental awareness and community engagement through Keep Birmingham Beautiful and promotes how to prepare for, respond to and mitigate emergencies through Be Ready BHAM. We work tirelessly in stormwater management, focusing on maintaining water quality, managing runoff, and ensuring compliance with regulatory permits. Our outreach and educational programs are aimed at promoting sustainable water use and stormwater practices. In Floodplain Management and Hazard Mitigation, we focus on minimizing risks and losses associated with natural hazards. The Engineering Team is instrumental in addressing and managing stormwater issues, assessing community feedback, and ensuring environmentally sound practices in new developments. Together, these areas coalesce into a comprehensive effort to protect, manage, and restore Birmingham’s water ecosystems for a sustainable future. |
Join us as we commit to preserving the environmental integrity of Birmingham, ensuring a healthier, safer, and greener community for everyone.
With over 40 years of collective expertise, our Watershed Management Division team is a mosaic of highly skilled professionals, each contributing to the protection and enhancement of Birmingham’s water resources.
