HABD taps Dr. Anthony Hood and D.G. Pantazis Jr. as newest board members

The Housing Authority Birmingham District has appointed Dr. Anthony Hood and D.G. Pantazis, Jr. as its newest board members.

Dr. Hood serves as the director of civic innovation at the University of Alabama at Birmingham as well as an associate professor of management in the UAB Collat School of Business.

Dr. Hood is an alum of Harvard Business School’s Young American Leaders Program, Stanford University’s Teaching and Learning Studio, the Community Health Leadership Program at the Morehouse School of Medicine, The PhD Project, and Leadership Birmingham. He received his PhD in management (with concentrations in entrepreneurship and strategy) from the University of Alabama.

Mr. Pantazis is a partner at the law firm of Wiggins, Child, Pantazis, Fisher, & Goldfarb, LLC, where his practice focuses almost exclusively on plaintiff litigation. He routinely handles class action, wrongful death, personal injury, consumer, statutory, and civil rights lawsuits in state and federal courts throughout the United States.

Mr. Pantazis is a graduate of the University of Alabama School of Law and has served on the Birmingham Bar Foundation’s executive board, was a participant in the Alabama State Bar Association Leadership Forum Class 14 and has served as president of the Birmingham Bar Young Lawyers Section’s executive board.

HABD is the largest provider of conventional public housing and tenant-based assisted housing in the State of Alabama. The HABD was incorporated in 1935 and 1937 began participation under the provision of the United States Housing Act of 1937.
