All Hazards Awareness Week

April 24, 2017 @ 8:00 am - April 28, 2017 @ 3:00 pm

On behalf of the City of Birmingham’s Planning, Engineering and Permits Departments Floodplain Management and Disaster Mitigation Services Program (FMDMS), we are pleased to invite you to participate in our Annual All Hazards Week scheduled to be held April 24 through April 28, 2017.

During this week, the FMDMS Program staff plans to steer the City’s mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery activities by highlighting tornadic events, riverine and localized flooding by providing strategic direction, support, cohesiveness, and coordination of activities across the City to educate residents. The goal is to assist stakeholders, residents and business owners to in becoming more resilient.

Being prepared to prevent, respond to and recover rapidly from a disaster-related event can save lives and protect the health and safety of public and property.  Educating the public on funding options, natural and beneficial functions of the floodplain, hazardous areas and mitigation techniques aids everyone to respond appropriately to all hazards when they do occur.

Attached you will find a flyer providing the name, date, time and location of each Seminar. We look forward to seeing you at this years’ All Hazards events.
