Request a Letter or Certificate From the Mayor

General Guidelines

  • The Office of Public Information will issue the following ceremonial documents: Letters of Condolence/Congratulations/Appreciation/Welcome/Etc.
  • A person that resides in the City of Birmingham and surrounding areas may request a ceremonial document request
  • The Office of Public Information does not handle scheduling the mayor for events and presentations. You must submit a scheduling request to Sylvia.Bowen@birminghamal.gov. If the mayor is unable to attend, you are encouraged to reach out to the council-member for your district.
  • All requests have a 14 business day processing time unless there are unforeseen circumstances such as death
  • The City of Birmingham Mayor’s Office reserves the right to modify or deny any request
  • The Mayor will not recognize any group whose policies or aims advocate violence, hatred or any other position contrary to the well-being of the citizens of the City of Birmingham
